Tide UK: cleared CSV, monthly statement or custom PDF?
Updated · 4 min read
Tide’s cleared-only transaction CSV includes a running balance. If you need transaction data with cleared balances, you do not automatically have to convert a PDF. If the recipient requests an issued statement, choose Tide’s monthly or custom-range statement route and verify the document they require.
This guide concerns the Tide Business Current Account in the UK. The current official download instructions describe three useful choices with different timing and coverage rules.
The desktop apps export date, description, and amount as CSV. Open CSV in Excel to save an XLSX workbook. Statement support varies: verify the result against your own PDF.
Select the Tide record that fits the request
| Needed record | Choice | Documented condition |
|---|---|---|
| Filtered cleared transaction data and running balances | Standard cleared-only CSV | Choose the cleared-only option rather than assuming every CSV has balances |
| An issued monthly account document | Monthly PDF statement | Issued on the 4th of the following month |
| A statement for a chosen interval | Custom-range PDF | End date at least 3 days ago; at most 6 months per document |
| Custom statement exceeding 2,000 transactions | Secure download link by email | Check the delivered file and requested interval before closing the request |
The presence of a running balance in one CSV type does not prove that its identity details or acceptance criteria match an issued PDF. Ask the recipient which evidence they need; do not describe the CSV as universally acceptable statement proof.
Download the cleared-only CSV
In the app, open Pay → View more under the transaction list. Apply the filters for the records you need, then select the Share icon, choose the CSV type and Export. The option named Standard – Cleared only (including running balance) is the documented way to include the cleared balance after each transaction.
On the web, open Accounts, select the account, use the funnel filter and Apply Filter → Export. Choose the CSV type and whether to include attachments. Select Standard (Cleared transactions only) for the cleared running balances.
Keep a note of the selected account and filters alongside the saved CSV. If an expected item is pending, a cleared-only export is not evidence that it disappeared. Inspect its actual status separately rather than changing the export to make a closing total fit.
Obtain the monthly or custom statement
For an issued month in the app, use Profile → Bank account → Account statements, choose the month or months and Share the PDF. A monthly statement not yet issued before the following month’s 4th is a different problem from a failed download.
For a custom PDF on the web, select the account and Account details → Statements, then Statement type → Custom range. Select a period that respects the documented three-day end-date restriction and six-month maximum. In the app, Tide lists initials → Bank account → Statements and documents → Account Statements → Custom date range.
For more than 2,000 transactions, look for the secure link Tide says it emails instead of assuming that no statement was generated. Use the account service’s normal trusted access route if you cannot establish that an email is genuine; do not share sign-in credentials with a bookkeeper to bypass a download problem.
Example: why the same request needs two deliverables
In a synthetic close on October 12, the bookkeeper asks for September’s issued statement and October activity through October 11. September’s PDF is the monthly document. A custom PDF ending October 11 would not satisfy the documented minimum age of the end date on October 12; a filtered transaction export can serve as clearly labelled interim data instead, if the recipient accepts that purpose.
The outcome is a source register: September PDF, October selected-range CSV, its cleared-only status and the outstanding current-period statement request. This does not guarantee transaction completeness or change when an item should be recognised in the accounts. Check the resulting files and keep any requested evidence that is still unavailable visible in the handoff.
Synthetic review case. The values are teaching data, not a vendor export or an import file.
For a bank source available only as PDF, download LocalExtract. It processes one PDF locally into date, description, amount CSV; review and adapt those rows for the actual destination.
