What We Build

LocalExtract converts bank statement PDFs into structured CSV for use in Excel, entirely on your device. No files are uploaded to a server. No account is required to get started. The application runs natively on macOS and Windows.

Bookkeepers, accountants and small business owners handle sensitive financial documents daily. We build a conversion tool that does not require uploading clients’ documents to a third-party cloud service.

Our Mission

Bank statement data should be easy to work with and private by default. Processing sensitive documents locally supports financial professionals’ client-confidentiality workflows and obligations such as those addressed by the FTC Safeguards Rule.

How It Works

LocalExtract combines PDF parsing and on-device OCR (PP-OCRv5 via ONNX Runtime) to extract transactions from digital and scanned statement PDFs. The engine is written in Rust. The desktop apps export date, description and amount as CSV. Open CSV in Excel to save XLSX, or adapt columns for QuickBooks, Xero, Sage or another accounting import.

Platforms

• macOS: Direct download from localextract.app. Requires macOS 13 or later; supports Apple Silicon and Intel. Download for Mac.
• Windows: Available on the Microsoft Store for Windows 10 (1809) or later, x64 and ARM64. Get it on Microsoft Store.
