Who We Are

LocalExtract's blog is written and maintained by the LocalExtract team — the same people who build the software. We are not independent journalists. We have a direct commercial interest in topics related to bank statement conversion. We disclose this interest prominently in every article that discusses our product alongside competitors.

Our Accuracy Standards

  • Product feature claims — We only claim features that are currently live in the released version of LocalExtract. Forward-looking statements (planned features, coming soon) are labeled as such.
  • Competitor descriptions — We describe competitor products based on publicly available information (their websites, documentation, and app store listings). We do not make claims we cannot verify from public sources.
  • Regulatory references — Laws and regulations cited (FTC Safeguards Rule, GLBA, state privacy laws) are referenced with links to official sources. We do not cite penalty amounts or enforcement statistics without a primary source.
  • Pricing — Competitor pricing stated in our content is based on publicly listed prices at the time of writing. We include date disclaimers and encourage readers to verify current pricing directly.
  • Testing claims — When we describe testing results, we describe our actual methodology and acknowledge limitations (sample size, hardware, statement types tested).

Disclosure Policy

Every article that compares LocalExtract to other products includes a disclosure box near the top of the page. The disclosure states that the article is published by the company that builds LocalExtract. We do not accept payment from third parties to mention their products, and we do not have affiliate relationships that influence how we describe tools.

Corrections

If we publish inaccurate information, we correct it. Corrections are made directly in the article text. For significant factual errors, we note the correction at the top of the article with a brief description of what changed and when.

To report an error, email us at [email protected] with the article URL and the specific claim you believe is incorrect. We review all correction requests and respond within 5 business days.

Content Freshness

Bank statement formats, pricing, and regulations change. We review articles periodically and update them when material information changes. The “Last updated” date on each article reflects the most recent substantive edit — not minor formatting changes.

AI-Assisted Writing

Some of our content is drafted with AI writing assistance and reviewed by our team for accuracy, factual correctness, and consistency with our editorial standards. All published content is the responsibility of the LocalExtract team, regardless of how it was drafted.
