Novo: monthly statements or an Activity CSV for your bookkeeper?
Updated · 4 min read
For a Novo US business account, use a monthly statement for an issued month and an Activity CSV for a chosen transaction interval. Novo does not issue partial-month, multi-month or annual statements. A custom CSV solves a different request; renaming it “statement” does not turn it into the issued document.
This guide helps the person collecting records for a bookkeeper. Novo is a financial technology platform; its statement instructions concern the account it services, not a separate credit-card product.
The desktop apps export date, description, and amount as CSV. Open CSV in Excel to save an XLSX workbook. Statement support varies: verify the result against your own PDF.
Choose the record before downloading
| Request | Novo source | What to check before handing it over |
|---|---|---|
| The complete previous month | Issued monthly statement | Correct month and account; retain the original document |
| Activity since that month ended | Activity CSV | Exact selected dates; identify it as interim activity |
| Several months of transactions | Date-range Activity CSV plus each monthly statement requested | A combined transaction interval is not a multi-month statement |
| Older issued statements | Web or app statement history | The visible history window differs between devices |
Novo’s statement instructions say the previous month becomes available on the first of the next month. If the current month is still in progress, do not keep looking for a partial-month statement that the product does not provide.
Retrieve the issued month and the interim activity separately
- On the web, open the profile menu at the top right, choose Settings, then Statements at the top of the page. In the app, use More → Settings → Statements.
- Select the issued month you need. Read the actual period and account identity in the resulting document before putting it in the client folder.
- For an interval that is not a complete issued month, go to Activity from the web’s left menu, or More → Activity in the app. Choose Download CSV and select the date range. These are the documented export steps.
- Record the requested start and end dates next to the CSV filename. Inspect the rows actually returned; a date-range selection alone is not proof that every expected transaction is present.
Keep the statement and CSV in different roles. The CSV supplies transaction data for review or a later software import. The statement preserves the issuer’s month document. This guide does not assume a particular CSV column layout or promise that another organisation will accept a CSV as statement evidence.
Historical records: try the appropriate access window
Novo’s history guidance distinguishes up to 24 months on the web and up to 48 months in the app. It also says statements exist from account creation. Those are different statements: creation history does not mean every month is visible in every dashboard.
If a month is outside the web window, check the documented app window. If it is outside both visible windows, record the missing months and ask Novo about access; do not substitute a newly generated CSV while telling the recipient that the original statement was retrieved.
Worked handoff: September close and October activity
A synthetic request asks for September 2026 plus activity through October 12. Use September’s statement, available from October 1, and an Activity CSV selected for October 1–12. There is no October 1–12 statement to request under Novo’s published rules.
| Item in the handoff | Label | Still to verify from the real file |
|---|---|---|
| September statement | Issued September record | Account identity and actual period |
| October 1–12 CSV | Interim activity, selected range | Returned dates and any missing expected transaction |
| Missing older month | Outstanding request | Access through app or support, rather than an invented replacement |
The useful result is a paired source list with explicit gaps. The bookkeeper can distinguish a completed month from interim data without assuming that the two files have identical fields, balances or evidential purpose.
Synthetic review case. The values are teaching data, not a vendor export or an import file.
For a bank source available only as PDF, download LocalExtract. It processes one PDF locally into date, description, amount CSV; review and adapt those rows for the actual destination.
