Amazon Marketplace US: settlement balance or bank receipt?

Updated · 3 min read

An Amazon Marketplace US settlement balance is not the same fact as a bank credit. Sales, expenses, refunds, reserves and deferred transactions can leave money outside the next disbursement. Start from Marketplace Payments and its actual disbursement, not an Amazon Pay report or an assumed sales-to-bank schedule.

The desktop apps export date, description, and amount as CSV. Open CSV in Excel to save an XLSX workbook. Statement support varies: verify the result against your own PDF.

Establish the settlement and disbursement

  1. In Seller Central’s main menu, open Payments → Payments → Statement View.
  2. Record the relevant period, opening balance and displayed next-disbursement information. Keep an estimate separate from an initiated payout.
  3. For a past payout, inspect Disbursements and retain amount, currency, destination, initiated date and any available reference.
  4. Compare the identified disbursement with a separately observed bank credit; leave absent bank evidence unresolved.

Amazon’s Marketplace seller-payments explanation is the source for this Statement View and Disbursements investigation, including the settlement and bank-arrival distinctions below.

The general settlement explanation describes a usually two-week cycle, but that is not a universal promise for every account or balance. Deferred transactions are not yet payable; reserve amounts can roll forward. An estimated next amount or date is not a bank receipt. Do not substitute an assumed exported CSV schema for the details actually available in the account.

Build the balance bridge before searching the bank

The synthetic Marketplace exercise stipulates an opening balance of 50, sales of 800, expenses of 100, refunds of 40 and 110 retained as reserve. That gives a 600 disbursement candidate, not an 800 sales deposit. A separate deferred 90 is not included in this stipulated payable-sales population. The example checks its stated components rather than promising Amazon’s exact report headers or account policy.

After the payout is initiated, bank arrival is a separate stage. Amazon says it can take up to five business days. For a missing disbursement older than five business days, use an available trace ID from Disbursements when asking the bank to investigate. Do not promise that every payout exposes a trace identifier or borrow the Amazon Pay trace-menu path.

Retain an unresolved transfer packet

Keep the payout identity, source period, currency, expected destination, initiated date, status, bank search coverage and any actual trace. A same-amount bank line without adequate identity is only a candidate match. The account holder should send the necessary authorized records to their bank; this guide does not initiate a payout, change banking details or resolve reserve eligibility.
